A Stomach Pacemaker

News brief on Intrapace, an InCube Labs company, in Investors Business Daily posted on 3/3/11.

A stomach pacemaker could help obese people lose weight. In a clinical trial on 65 patients, manufacturer IntraPace said most lost about 20% of their weight and kept it off. The device works like a cardiac pacemaker, sending electrical signals to curb appetite. One possible drawback, critics say, is that it doesn't address underlying issues that make people overeat, and people might get used to the signals and overeat anyway.
